Our first camping trip!

This summer we took our first-ever family camping trip.  We had so much fun!
This post is the first in a series about our fabulous trip.

Steve bought a huge tent and waterproofed it ahead of time.  Good thing because we did have one day and night of torrential rain.  Other than that, the weather was great and almost no bugs were to be found!  How did that happen?

Here we are enjoying a quick stop at Petoskey State Park before heading to the UP.  After much looking, Steve found a Petoskey stone though it's a little hard to see the pattern unless it's in water.

Setting up the tent - Madeline is pounding in the stakes!

We brought along several meals to cook at the campground.  Our favorite supper meal was chopped veggies (tomatoes, red peppers, carrots, summer squash, edamame, and onions) in foil packets cooked on a grate over the fire.  We heated some cous cous in a pan on our little camp stove and topped it with the cooked veggies.  So delicious!  But let's be honest, the most important food we made while camping was S'mores, Webb Style.  Two of us don't like marshmallows, and another can't eat very crunchy things while she has her braces on, so we came up with this solution.  Croissant rolls with chocolate inside, then heated in a panini maker over an open fire.  YUM!
Steve was actually having fun and loved making the s'mores, really!  He's just concentrating!
