We had been sitting in the house with the blinds shut, lights off, and even paper taped up over the back doors to block out some of the light, and were taking a few moments to be thankful for what we DO have in terms of weather, when we started to talk about being thankful that we don't live somewhere even hotter, like Mexico City, Panama, or Sao Paulo. To bolster our enthusiasm for how great we have it here in NC, compared to one of those waaaaaay hotter places, we started looking up the day's high temperatures in those other cities to see what we were (thankfully) missing out on.
Mexico City? 69 degrees. Must be a fluke. How about something further south?
Panama City? 84 degrees. Hmmm. Maybe it's because of the rain forests...
Sao Paulo, Brazil? 75 degrees. Ok, that was probably not fair as they are south of the equator and are having "winter" right now.
Quito, Ecuador? It's on the equator for crying out loud. It HAS to be hotter there. Today's high there? 66.
Ok, this is not working. How about something domestic?
Atlanta? 98. Now we're getting somewhere.
Montgomery? 94. What? That's south of Atlanta!
Biloxi? 89. Sensing a pattern here...
El Paso? 84. Ridiculous. I know it's not south of Biloxi, but, it's Texas. Texas is supposed to be HOT.
Home sweet home? 102, but who's counting? I just know that when the temp gets beyond a certain point, hot is hot is hot.
Steve, our hero, went out today to get 6 big bags of ice to put in coolers in the living room. It doesn't sound like it would make that much of a difference, but with the fans on high, it kept the indoor temp down to 89. Still nice and toasty, but not 102.
Why didn't he just call someone to fix the AC, you ask? It's Sunday.
I have one thing to say to you, Stevewebb, (other than thank you)... Happy 12th Anniversary.
We have been eating popsicles, drinking ice water, and will all be sleeping in the living room tonight. I think our first order of the day tomorrow will be to give the house a thorough cleaning, then get the laundry done, go grocery shopping, and make sure the girls get all their school work done. Oh, wait... I think we might call someone to fix the AC first.
As for the picture, no, their feet are not actually in the ice water... just hovering above it. The cool air above the ice water was keeping their lil' piggies comfy.
