Recently, we visited a small, privately-owned zoo with our homeschool group. It's about an hour from our house which is great- the "real" zoo is 2 hours from home. The people there were so friendly! We had a guide take us around the property and explain all sorts of things about various animals.
This potbellied pig walked all over the place and loved the attention from all the kids!
Madeline pets a fennec fox...
Just before the tour, one of the guides let the kids pet a baby American Alligator!
Got lettuce?
Knock, knock... anybody home?
Lydia helped this miniature donkey to some carrots.
You can just barely see one of the carrots Madeline gave this guy! He munched them down quickly!
We saw many more animals than what's shown in the pictures... including a porcupine, armadillo, ring-tailed lemur, wallaby, zebra, llama, swan, chinchilla, sloth, prairie dog, serval cat, oppossum, some hissing cockroaches (yay!) and more.
